Last week, Franciscan Health Foundation was showcased as the non-profit of the night at the Lafayette Aviators game, and Sister Aline Shultz was able to throw out the first pitch. All proceeds raised from this game will assist our community health programs that focus on prenatal assistance, breastfeeding support, child injury, car seat safety and CPR education.

Congratulations to oncologist Bharat Haridas Barai, MD, recipient of the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, the highest honor given by the Government of India to Non-Resident Indians. The Indian community of Greater Chicago joined in celebrating this achievement at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago.Dr. Barai, an independent doctor who chooses to practice at Franciscan Health in northwest Indiana, continues to make significant strides in both the medical field and community service. Dr. Barai has dedicated more than 20 years to treating various types of cancer, including lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and breast cancer. Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Barai is a prominent figure in the Indian-American community. His notable contributions include serving as a Trustee and former President of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees and current Trustee of Manav Seva Mandir, Trustee of the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, and Trustee of the Indian American Cultural Center NW Indiana. He has also served as the voluntary Medical Director of the Sickle Cell Foundation of NW Indiana for children in Gary, and as a director of the American Cancer Society, NW Indiana.https://lnkd.in/eHGXWDh9

The Medical Laboratory Science internship program is sponsored by Franciscan Health Dyer and run in conjunction with Alverno Laboratories. Since graduating this summer, the students have taken and passed the national certification board exam administered by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
